Lysistrata
by Aristophanes, translated by Ranjit Bolt
Directed by Ty Greenwood
Since the beginning of time…
Men have fought wars. But the women of Ancient Greece have had just about enough of it. To stop the war, the women of Athens, and one smart Spartan, join Lysistrata’s league, take over the Acropolis, and refuse to do their household and other “wifely duties” until men make peace in Greece. Aristophanes’ LYSISTRATA satirizes “men and their wars”, making us laugh while making a strong statement about the costs and consequences of war throughout time.
